2025 ChillOut Festival Returns this Double Ten Holiday Taipei’s Largest Street Music Festival Returns with 8 Stages and Nearly 100 Artists
The 2025 ChillOut Festival, organized by the Taipei Water Department, is set to take over Taipei on October 11 and 12, transforming the Gongguan area into the city’s largest street music celebration. Stretching across the Gongguan Shopping District, Taipei Water Park, Gongguan Riverside Plaza, and the riverside greens beside Treasure Hill, the festival features eight stages and nearly 100 performers from home and abroad. For the first time, audiences can look forward to 75-minute headliner sets, creating an immersive live experience. Conveniently accessible by MRT, festivalgoers can wander between stages, sample Gongguan’s culinary scene, and enjoy music in leafy parks, open lawns, or the shaded space beneath Yongfu Bridge for a laid-back urban getaway. Taipei Water Department Commissioner Fan Huan-ying highlighted that since its founding in 2018 by PIPE Live Music, ChillOut Festival has grown into a signature autumn tradition in southern Taipei. Last year, with the support from the Hydraulic Engineering Office, Office of Commerce, and local business associations, additional free stages drew tens of thousands of visitors, filled nearby hotels, boosted sales for shops and night markets, and—most importantly—established a new model of public-private collaboration, blending government support with private creativity. This year, the expansion into the riverside greens beside Treasure Hill Artist Village further enriches the festival’s character, offering audiences a chance to slow down, explore at their own pace, and discover “Taipei’s last blank canvas.” Taipei Water Department announced that the much-loved ChillOut Festival celebrates its sixth edition this year with an unprecedented lineup of 10 international acts making their Taiwan debut. Highlights include Cornelius (Keigo Oyamada), the godfather of Shibuya-kei, returning after seven years; legendary DJ Kentaro, Asia’s first DMC World Champion; hip-hop visionary Kid Fresino and buzzworthy band Raisan; along with Tokyo’s acclaimed audiovisual producer VIDEOTAPEMUSIC, back once again to thrill Taipei audiences. Also debuting in Taiwan is Mola Oddity, a mysterious nomadic psychedelic collective fronted by Taiwanese star Amber Kuo, performing under the alias Birdy K. Joined by five international musicians, the band recently won Best New Group at the 18th Freshmusic Awards and earned accolades at both the London and Berlin Music Video Awards—making their first Taiwan performance at ChillOut a highly anticipated moment. Other exciting newcomers to the lineup include Mongolia’s NaraBara, whose “Dab Hi” MV was nominated for the 2025 Golden Melody Awards; Beijing jazz-hip hop artist Xiao Laohu (jfever), fresh from a collaboration with Leo Wang; Thailand’s Quicksand Bed, appearing in Taiwan for the first time; and the Ford Trio (PLUK-SEK Service) from Thailand, teaming up with Taiwan’s psychedelic duo Mong Tong following their recent EP release. Festival curator Jacklon Tung explained that ChillOut Festival is designed to create the most relaxed and comfortable experience possible, spanning everything from music curation and stage design to venue layout. The event is easy to reach on foot, offers convenient food options, clean and well-lit restrooms, and plenty of space to sit or stretch out at leisure. As women have consistently made up the majority of audiences in past years, this year’s program puts a special spotlight on four of the most talked-about female voices in Mandarin music. The lineup features: 9m88, returning for her second appearance; genre-defying rapper Hsien Ching; Karencici, Golden Melody Award nominee for Best Mandarin Female Singer; and Andr, nominated for Golden Melody Best New Artist. Together, they showcase the rich diversity of Taiwan’s new generation of female musicians over the past decade.
