2nd “Flow of Creativity: Painting a Sustainable Future” Taipei Water Department Art Competition Now Open for Entries
Following the success of last year’s inaugural event, the Taipei Water Department is once again hosting the “Flow of Creativity: Painting a Sustainable Future” Taipei Water Department Art Competition. This second edition continues the theme of water conservation and sustainability, inviting Taipei City elementary school students in both middle and upper grades to submit artworks related to topics such as the water cycle, source protection, and water-saving actions. Submissions are open now through mid-September. The Taipei Water Department emphasizes that alignment with the theme and creative concept—each accounting for 30% of the total score—are key to standing out in the competition. Additional judging criteria include artistic technique and overall visual impact (25%) and expressiveness and emotional appeal (15%). A panel of experts from the fields of water resources and visual arts will be invited to serve as judges. Students whose works are selected for the top award will receive a NT$5,000 scholarship, while their instructors will be granted a NT$2,000 cash award and administrative recognition. Winning artworks from the first contest are currently featured on the digital display wall at Exit 4 of Gongguan MRT Station, and the back of the May water bill envelope also showcases select top entries, inviting the public to reflect on the value of water resources. This year’s event is co-hosted with the Department of Education and features an extended four-month submission period, aiming to attract even more outstanding entries and inspire fresh, creative interpretations of the theme of cherishing and conserving water.
