Water Released from Zhitan Dam, Qingtan Weir, and Shuangxi Dam in Anticipation of Incoming Typhoon Residents Along Xindian River and Shuangxi River Urged to Stay Away from the Riverbanks
Due to the influence of Typhoon Gaemi's peripheral circulation, the upstream river flow has increased. In response, the Taipei Water Department will regulate water levels by releasing water from Zhitan Dam, Qingtan Weir, and Shuangxi Dam starting today (July 24th). Zhitan Dam will release approximately 300 cubic meters per second beginning at 9:10 AM; Qingtan Weir will release approximately 180 cubic meters per second beginning at 8:46 AM; and Shuangxi Dam will release approximately 1.5 cubic meters per second beginning at 11:50 AM on July 24, 2024. The release volume will be adjusted accordingly based on upstream river flow conditions. As the regulated water release may continue to increase, residents downstream of Zhitan Dam, Qingtan Weir, and Shuangxi Dam, as well as those near the riverbanks of Xindian River and Shuangxi River, are advised to remain vigilant and stay away from the riverbanks to ensure their safety.
